Time Trials

The TT season finished with the annual Sydmonton hill climb on Sunday 3rd October.

It’s been a busy TT season with extra admin enforced by the C19 competition precautions. I big thank you to Michael, Alison, Doug, Peg, Carol, Stu, Maggie and all the club members who have helped out and given their time to make the TT’s possible.

Barry a former TT secretary and the clubs representative with the LWDC Committee is stepping down from this duty. We would like to thank Barry for his time and hard work representing the club.

Cyclo Cross

Cyclo cross is in full swing with our members travelling to events, making sure the club name is well represented. Indeed many excellent results have already been achieved.

As mentioned above club open cyclo cross event will take place on Sunday 14th November at Popham.

We need more volunteers to help out on the day with various tasks. Refreshments will be provided.

There will be no club ride on this Sunday to give everybody the opportunity to volunteer to help out or ride out and support the event.

The airfield café will be open so you will be able to get tea and cake:

Club Rides

With the coming of autumn and winter the club rides have been reviewed and the average speeds adjusted to reflect the steadying down of the pace from the highs of the summer.

The revised average speeds for each group are below:

Steady Group 15/16mph - 45/65 miles

Brisk Group 17/18mph - 50/70 miles

Tempo Group 18mph + - 60/80 miles

The Chilled group was a great success and achieved its aim of encouraging new riders out with the club during the summer. Thanks to Des and Sam for taking on the leading duties. The Chilled rides have been put on hold during the winter months.

We would also like to thank the riders that have put themselves forward as ride leaders, it makes a tremendous difference and ensures we have more flexibility and can maintain cover during holiday periods. If you are interested in becoming a ride leader please contact - luke.brashier@gmail.com.

Another success is the Introductory Rides for Women organised by Alison.

All the rides have been well attended and given the opportunity for the riders to experience the fun of riding in a group. The women’s rides have finished for this year but Alison is planning on running them again in 2022.

Annual General Meeting

The AGM is scheduled for Monday 25th October, 7.30pm at Sherborne St John Village Hall.

Tea and coffee will be available and the hall has patio doors and windows which will be opened to provide good ventilation. We will also have a live Zoom meeting available for you to log into and take part if you can’t make it on the night.

For paid up members you will also be able to come along and claim your free NHRC water bottle.

We have a number of committee members stepping down this year:

Des, from road secretary

Will, from social media secretary

Alison, from club secretary

Luke, from club chairman

The committee would like to thank all those stepping down for their time, commitment, hard work and good humour.

The agenda and proposals for the AGM will be made available later this week.
