Hi Everyone.
As we are now moving into summer and people are getting fitter we are adjusting the group ride average speeds to reflect this.
The changes are:
Cruiser
From 14 – 15 to 15 – 16.5 mph (24 – 26.6 kph)
Pace
From 15.5 – 17.5 to 16.5 – 18 mph (26.6 – 29 kph)
Breakaway
From 17.5 – 19 to 18 – 19.5 mph (29 – 31 kph)
Ride Etiquette
To help all riders have an enjoyable experience on our club rides, we would appreciate all reading and acting on the following points:
Ride within the average speed range of the group you choose to ride with
Please respect the guidance provided by the ride leader. If they ask people to “steady up”, “bring the pace down” or “knock it back”, they are aiming to keep the group together. It’s easier to keep a group rolling together than dropping riders and having to wait for them later. Remember it’s a group ride, not a race/event
Look after each other. If you notice a group member struggling or off the back, call it out and ask the group to bring the pace down.
You are welcome to stretch your legs and have a go up the hills, but wait at the top to re-group
If you find yourself off the front of the group, wait at the next junction to re-group. If a rider continues to ride off the front and does not wait to regroup, then they will not be chased after and will be deemed to have left the group ride
Do not overlap wheels
Do not half wheel
Front riders should warn of hazards ahead and inform the rest of the group verbally and/or with a hand signal
Single out if a car is behind to enable the car to pass when it safe to do so
The Highway Code must be observed at all times by all riders
Thank you
