Club Ride Update - Winter Adjustments to Groups, Ride Distances and More

Club rides are the entry point for potential new members. We have seen many riders start with the rides and then get involved with the clubs' Cyclo- Cross, Gravel and Time Trial activities.

Each well run club ride tells our story — one of camaraderie, fun, care and pride. How we ride together defines the strong, positive image of our club. Everybody on a club ride has a part to play in making the ride a positive experience.

Winter Adjustments

As we enter the colder winter months, we have taken feedback on board, and the mileage for the club rides will decrease. The average speed range for each group will also reduce slightly:

·         Cruiser Group - 14.5 - 16mph/23.3 - 25.7kph

·         Pace Group - 16 - 17.5mph/25.7 - 28.16kph

·         Breakaway Group - 17.5 - 19mph/28.16 - 30.5kph

(on hold until the New Year)

With the cyclo-cross season in full swing, the club is well represented with many of our riders taking part and producing excellent results.  As these riders usually ride in the Breakaway group, we will put that group on hold until the New Year, while they are competing.

Ride Leading

The club rides depend on the availability of ride leaders. Their availability is subject to work and family commitments, and in the winter, the risk of flu, covid, and colds.

We try and ensure that we offer a full range of club rides, but appreciate your understanding when this is not possible.

If you would like to know more about becoming a ride leader, take a look at the information on the ride leading page:

Any ideas or suggestions for club rides?
