November Winter Club Ride Update

Hi Everyone,

We’ve had some really good club rides so far this winter.

However, the Pace group has had very few participants. As our ride leaders commit their time to turning out, it’s difficult to sustain the group with only two or three riders attending.

We understand that the current routes may not suit all Pace riders, and that indoor training, cyclo-cross, and gravel events are also drawing interest at this time of year.

With that in mind, the proposal is to pause the Pace group until the New Year, when we’ll review the situation. If demand returns, we can restart the rides at short notice.

If five or more riders would like to come out regularly for pace rides over the coming weeks, or if you have suggestions for alternative pace routes, please let us know.

A big thank you to Andy Self for covering the Pace group over the last couple of weeks.

As we all know, winter club rides are less about high average speeds and more about getting out, having fun, chatting, and enjoying the essential coffee and cake.

To support this, we’ll aim to have two Cruiser ride leaders available every Sunday. If more than 10–12 riders sign up, we’ll split into two groups. Both groups will run within the Cruiser average speed range of 14.5–16 mph (25.3–28.2 kph). Depending on who turns up, one group may be slightly quicker, but both will aim to stay within the Cruiser range.

As we did last year, we’ll adjust the meeting time on colder days to allow temperatures to rise a little. Any changes will be included in the WhatsApp ride message on Friday or Saturday.

Got feedback or suggestions? Send a DM on WhatsApp to your ride coordinators, Luke or Chris.

Happy and safe riding!
